Glazing: Open Session - Ceramics

We are now offering glaze specific open sessions due to popular demand

Saturday 8th June - 15:00-17:30
Saturday 13th July - 15:00-17:30

Location: Omega Centre, Portsmouth, PO5 4LP

All our Open Sessions are for non-ceramics-members, these sessions will have a tutor available to answer any questions and do simple demonstrations.

These sessions are specifically to learn about glazing, you will learn about kiln temperatures and cones; what glaze you should use at what temperature; how to dip a piece into a glaze; how to apply brush on glaze and much more

You will be using bisque items you have made previously, if you don’t have items available to use, we have some bisque ware at the studio you can use (subject to availability)

Please bring a notebook to these sessions to keep track of your glazing journey (notebooks can also be purchased from the Omega Centre at a cost of £2

These sessions also serve as a good refresher for those members who need more demonstrations and advice than might be available during general open sessions

All equipment is available for use in the studio

We reserve the right to not fire items that pose a risk to equipment. We will not glaze-fire items that have been brought in from home (please email for more information in this regard)

Maximum session size: 6 Participants and 1 Staff

Please wear clothing you don’t mind getting dirty, remove jewellery and wear sensible footwear.
We have aprons available for use during your session if required
